Tamarind

Scientific name: Tamarindus indica.
The name comes from the Arabic and means "Indian date”

The fruit is a curved, elongated, thin husk; consisting of a brown shell, flattened oval brown seeds and joined together by the bright brown pulp when mature. The pulp is bittersweet flavor with fibrous stringy texture. The harvest in Mexico is performed by harvesting the fruit by hand during the months of March to June.

Its uses and applications are broad, mostly in fresh water, sweets, sauces, dressings, ice creams, as well as various applications in the gourmet kitchen.

Thanks to its nutritional properties is considered as an excellent multivitamin dietary supplement, highlighting their contribution in vitamin C (ascorbic acid) content of tartaric and citric acid, lot of vitamin B, iron, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and high fiber.

The large number of fibers provides digestive benefits; combat intestinal parasites, relieve pain caused by constipation, taking laxatives qualities in great quantities. Indicated for people suffering constantly from constipation and slow digestion.

It has diuretic properties because it has a lot of potassium as well as cleansing properties; helps eliminate toxins in our body, serves for the treatment and prevention of kidney stones and urinary tract infections.

It is an excellent astringent, external approach is refreshing to the skin, dermatological benefits; retract tissues and can produce a healing, inflammatory and hemorrhagic action.
